ASMA PWD Unit Application

Description:

The PWD Unit of the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly is mandated to identify, register and support Persons With Disability across the Municipality. We built the Unit a complete digital platform covering the whole journey: registration, relief applications, support delivery and monitoring of the impact on beneficiaries’ lives.

The challenge

Registration and relief were paper-based. Applicants with mobility challenges had to travel to the Assembly office repeatedly just to submit forms and follow up, records were hard to search or verify, and the Unit had no reliable way to show what difference its support made.

Our solution

• Online registration for Persons With Disability, plus community registration drives where staff enrol people on the spot in their own communities
• Relief applications submitted and tracked online, with a public “Check My PWD Status” page so applicants can follow progress from a phone instead of travelling into town
• Staff-assisted applications, recorded as such, for applicants who can’t apply themselves
• Case management for PWD Unit staff to review, verify and act on each application, with a full lifecycle from registration to beneficiary
• Monitoring and evaluation: permanent, tamper-proof impact assessments recorded for each beneficiary, so the Unit can show the effect of its support over time
• Role-based access for unit heads and staff, with sensitive status changes protected behind controlled workflows
• Public website with the Unit’s programmes, news and registration drives, managed by staff

The result

Applicants can register, apply and follow up without repeated trips to the office, and the Unit manages its caseload, delivery and impact evidence in one secure system, now in active use with real applicants across the Municipality.
